Paul rowley
Dublin born artist and filmmaker Paul Rowley has been exhibiting his film and video work internationally since 1997. Recent exhibitions include 'Gravity Loop' at the Butler Gallery, 'Re:mote' at the Photographer's Gallery, London 'Your chance to live at 300m3', Gothenburg and Videonale at the BonnKuns tMuseum. Recent festival screenings include the Impakt festival, and surveys at Darklight and Prog:ME, Rio de Janeiro.
Paul often works in collaboration with American artist David Phillips, with whom he was awarded IMMA’s Glen Dimplex Award in 2000. Their video Suspension was awarded a Golden Spire at the San Francisco International Film Festival, and they are currently working on a public commission for LAX airport, Los Angeles.
Paul recently won the Irish American Arts Awards, in both the under 35 category and the overall prize. He has received many awards from the Arts Council for his work since 1997, was a fellow at the Macdowell Artist Colony in New Hampshire, and at the Bogliasco Foundation, Italy.
He is currently finishing a feature length documentary shot in the former Butlin's holiday camp at Mosney, which is now used as a holding center for asylum seekers.
