Negotiating Public Space:
|
| Darklight Film Festival and City Arts Centre are hosting a roundtable table discussion to explore Public Space and how artists negotiate and advance work in the public domain. The parameters for public arts practice are broadening to include new media and virtual space. The potential for performance led and interactive art projects is increasing and provides the means to communicate the many voices and opinions of a community, locality or particular space in ways that are coherent, accessible, challenging and visually interesting. How do artists progress work which explicitly interrogates public space within the city against the backdrop of increasing restrictions and ever more heavily regulated public space? What is the potential for digital art to address and infiltrate the city and to address the definition of 'public' in interesting ways?
