He has everything perfectly planned as he does every year for their perfect evening. Trunk on the other hand is trying to work out why she isn't as interested as usual.

The Mamtsotsi Bird (12:00)

The Mamtsotsi Bird is an African mythological creature called down from the thunder by witches to carry out missions of malevolence. Sipho arranges that the bird be summoned to kill his estranged wife Musa. On a stormy Sunday night the beastly monstrosity swoops down from the hill and launches a ferocious attack on her. On his return Sipho is greeted by a brutal reality.

The film explores the concept that physical space may have a memory or a sense of memory that exists through sound. Sound is used to create an ambiguity as to whether it is driving the camera movements or merely exists within the lethargic state of the protagonists, and whether they are aware of this sound emanating from the space.

"Toz/Dust" presents for us vignettes from an extraordinary but imperfect life that a couple created for themselves. An unwanted violent event, incomprehensibility, and acceptance are among the micro-stories that the film presents. For a few small moments we come as guests to the couple's dusted home and inevitably let ourselves into the indecisiveness and anonymity of their life(story) as a couple.
