SHORTNIGHT PRESENTS - 60 SECONDS by Cliodhna Murphy and James Payne (1.30hours GBR 2004)
60 Seconds is made up of 94 one-minute video pieces by 85 artists from the UK , Europe, USA , Canada and the Far East .
This compilation of 60-second videos captures a diversity across narrative and documentary, thrillers and soaps, performance based video, animation, digital manipulation, found material, visual puns and pieces that defy easy categorisation. 60 Seconds has been inspired by the Situationist practice, dérive (drifting): a technique of rapid passage through varies ambiances. 60 Seconds generates a 'drifting' of ideas and concepts within the constraint of one minute of screen time. Taking individual video works and liking them by time and space, creating a continuum of journeys.
