This year Darklight will be launching an online art exhibition on the 17th of November, Straylight.
Straylight aims to explore and develop the web based exhibition space from both a curatorial viewpoint and from the viewpoint of the artist working to the ever-shifting boundaries and opportunities presented by this medium.
Straylight invites artists to explore this world and the challenges it presents. Please send any queries regarding this to straylight@darklight-filmfestival.com
Also on display at the conference was some of the graduate work from the Interactive Media department in Dunlaoighre Institute of Art, Design and Technology.
At the launch there was a music and visual performance by Dublin based electronic musician Conor Curran aka CjC, Conor has designed and programmed the Java graphics application, ¹Parallel , which is controllable in realtime via MIDI. The program uses generative techniques upon the Java 2D API to create and vary the visual output. Image creation and movement is controlled via MIDI messages that can be sequenced within a sequencer (i.e Cubase/Logic) along with other MIDI data for synths and samplers etc. This program allows CjC's live performance's to be accompanied with unique/customised visuals.
CjC can be contacted at info@forwind.net or go to http://www.forwind.net/ for music and software downloads. ............

Also performing was Philip Stewart with visual refreshment provided LIVE by Tim Redfern using his Pixelcorps software. Old-school two dimensional effects, layered live, responding to music.
